Story
I am running the Hackney Half Marathon in memory of my wonderful friend Rachael.
Strikingly beautiful, very funny, and super smart, Rachael lived life on her own terms. She had an incredible sense of adventure and fun, and was the most amazing, loving friend.
Rachael and I became best friends at secondary school where we were always together. We spent a year traveling together when we were 18 and then we went off to university - Rachael to Bristol and me to London. After that we were often in different cities, countries and continents, but whenever we met up or spoke on the phone there was the same connection and love we’d always had and within moments of seeing each other we’d be laughing. I am so lucky to have been friends with Rachael for over three decades.
Rachael died in October 2025 of breast cancer. I am running the Hackney Half Marathon in her memory, and in memory of my mum, who also died way too young of breast cancer when I was just 9 years old.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - any donations to Breast Cancer Now would be hugely appreciated.
