Story
It's rare but it's real.

Our wonderful son Jack died aged 12 in November 2023 from osteosarcoma, a type of sarcoma that like other types of sarcoma is classified as 'rare'. I find that term difficult. So did the other parents of children with sarcoma on the oncology ward at UCLH where he was having chemotherapy. It doesn't feel rare when someone you love is suffering.
Also, because it's 'rare', sarcoma receives less funding than other types of cancer, osteosarcoma even less so. In fact, the chemotherapy for osteosarcoma has not changed for 50 years! There has been research to try to change this but more is needed. Sarcoma UK is at the forefront of this research, some of which is in partnership with the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
Chris and I will be walking with the sarcoma community in Gunnersbury Park, West London on Sunday 1 November in memory of Jack to raise awareness and raise some funds for this badly needed research.
Come and join us if you would like to walk in memory of Jack too or please make a donation to Sarcoma UK. Thank you!
