Story
On December 11th 2023 I turned 54, this is the age that my mum was when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She lasted almost a year, passing away just after her 55th birthday – far too young! To mark this point in my life I will be taking part in several events over the course of the next year to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Action a fantastic charity working to make ovarian cancer a survivable disease.
I will start this challenge on December 10th with the Malaga Marathon aiming to complete a challenge each month finishing around January 24th 2025 which will mark the 30th anniversary of Mum’s passing. Some events will be harder than others (and will be dependent on work, family and my knees holding up!) I’m open to suggestions of other events and would love company if you fancy joining me. The list currently stands at:
2023
December – Malaga Marathon ✅
2024
January – Chepstow half marathon ✅
February – Cardiff winter warmer 1/2 marathon
March – Rome marathon
April - Madrid marathon - injured
May – CARTEN
June – Cotswold113 70.3 distance triathlon
July – Race to the Stones 100km ultra marathon
August
September – Swim Serpentine
October – Chicago marathon
November – own half
December – Valencia marathon
2025
February - Seville marathon - to make up for missing a couple of events due to injury!
If you can, please donate to this amazing charity (and apologies in advance for my nagging throughout the year.)
