• This year I am going to be 60 in August and I have decided to try and play 60 different courses to celebrate my milestone year.

• I started on the 1st January in our New Years Day five club competition, The Hair of the Dog on The Valley Course.

• I am a member at Etchinghill Golf Club and this year our Lady Captains Charity is the Kent Autism Trust and I am going to be supporting this charity with any money that I can raise with this venture.

• If you would like to help me raise money for this amazing charity then you can sponsor me on my Just Giving Page and the money raised will go directly to Family Support (please see more information below).

• I would love it if as many people as possible could either come and join in with me at some of the courses that I am going to play, offer me a round on their course or you can just show your support by making a donation to the charity.

• Some of the courses that I currently have on my planner are Faversham, Sene Valley, Rye, Dale Hill, Le Touquet, Littlestone, Walmer and Kingsdown, Royal St Georges, Princes, Palheiro, Santo da Serra, to name but a few!!

• What is Autism?

• Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how individuals communicate and relate to others, as well as how they perceive and experience the world.

• It affects how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world around them. People with autism often have unique ways of thinking, learning, and problem-solving. Some may have exceptional skills in certain areas, while others might find everyday tasks challenging.

• Autism affects each person differently. Some individuals might need a lot of support in their daily lives, while others can live independently. It’s important to remember that everyone with autism is unique, with their own strengths and challenges.

• By understanding and accepting these differences, we can create a more inclusive and supportive community for everyone.

• What Do The Kent Autistic Trust Family Support Do?

• The Kent Autistic Trust (KAT) has been providing support for people living with Autistic Spectrum Condition, and other associated difficulties since 1989, supporting people who have significant behaviour, developmental and communication needs within various community settings including: registered homes, specialist and intensive supported living, community day resource centres, respite Family Support and support groups.

• Family support is a support and advocacy service which is funded entirely by fundraising, so our efforts and focus will be about maximising the income, to keep this valuable service available to the Kent and Medway Autistic Community. Family Support is provided by one family advisor who focuses on the needs of adults and their families. Family support offers support with online groups and communication through chosen means. These aim to provide support through difficult times, build friendships and give participants the opportunity to discuss the individual challenges they face, with people who understand and share the same difficulties. Our family advisor also provides training workshops to provide a better understanding of autistic behaviour to organisations, professionals, schools, and grou
