Story
I am a proud Trustee of Let’s Talk About Loss and know how impactful the work of the charity is in helping young grievers process their grief and find comfort in solidarity. With a new 3 year strategy recently signed off by us, we need some serious funds to make our dreams a reality. We’re talking strengthening what we already do by supporting hosts with training and wellbeing support, spearheading new initiatives such as working out how to get men talking about loss and creating these spaces for them, and reaching out to more bereaved young adults to empower them to talk through the taboo of grief.
So what am I doing? Well… I’m *hoping* to complete a 10 mile run - the route is mostly on the South West Coast Path going from Budleigh, beyond Ladram Bay and back around Otterton. There is also a massive hill in it which is literally called ‘Big Peak’ - I’ve walked it once and that did me in so running will be a new height…! I’ll be buying some trail shoes soon and will have to train for this one - it’s quite a step up from my weekly 5k Parkrun but I am determined to do it for the cause and hope you’ll sponsor me to make it all worth it! Let’s also not forget it’s happening in late November so can’t quite expect warm sun..
At Let’s Talk About Loss, our vision is that no young griever grieves alone. We know that 77% of 18-35 year olds have experienced grief yet 39% feel “uncomfortable” talking about it. As we look ahead to 2026, we want to get ready to support as many young grievers as we can and break down the barriers that mean people grieve alone.
