Kate and Ruairidh's fundraiser for Fumble!

Sherwood Pines 10k · 17 March 2024
Hello. Nauseatingly, we now go running together.
We're running the Sherwood Pines 10K to raise money for Fumble - a wonderful charity close to our hearts.
About Fumble:
Right now, young people are really struggling: the challenges that we face when it comes to sex, relationships, our identities and our mental health are massive – especially in the digital world. Things like sexting, porn, ‘revenge porn’, online bullying and grooming, self-harm and suicide ideation, toxic ideologies getting us hooked on harmful ideas of gender, particularly masculinity, and more.
We turn to the internet, but the content we find is currently uninspiring, unhealthy, or even unsafe.
This is where Fumble comes in. We’re the free digital sex ed resource for the 21st century. We create exciting, reliable, relatable digital content on intimacy, relationships, identity, health and wellbeing. A happy, healthy digital world of free sex ed: by young people, for young people.
We make sure that young people have the skills and knowledge to successfully manage their sexual health, mental health and relationships today. We do this through our trusted, quality co-created digital content and our programme of Relationships & Sex Education (RSE) workshops, advocacy, training and consultancy.
Why do we Fumble?
The NSPCC has found that 40% of teen girls say they feel pressured to have sex.
Primary school-age children are regularly sharing sexual content in the classroom, teachers warn.
Period education campaign Betty for Schools say nearly half of girls don’t know what’s happening when they first start their period.
Sex crimes in schools up by 255% in four years, says TES.
Vagina surgery for appearance reasons is now ‘sought by girls as young as nine’, says BBC.
Recent research by the NSPCC & Middlesex University confirms that over half of 11- to 16-year-olds have seen explicit material online. Online pornography can be very graphic, and can feature racist and misogynistic content.
We could go on. Fumble answers questions on sex and relationships that young people are simply not getting elsewhere.
