Story
As I set off tomorrow to walk along the Via Francigena from Lucca to Rome I feel a little queasy about asking for donations for something magical that is actually the thing I most want to be doing in the world. HOWEVER. My motivating force is that this time four years ago I was stuck in bed, slipping in and out of pain and consciousness and under doctor's orders not to walk more than 500 steps a day. Tomorrow I walk 25km, after which I'll be averaging 20km a day through Tuscany and Lazio and into Rome. Most people who have experienced the grisly end of Long Covid haven't been as lucky as me, including so many teens and children who have remained stuck in bed or wheelchairs, so I'm raising money for this brilliant charity Long Covid Support who are one of the few anchors out there for this giant but almost invisible cohort. The next three weeks, as well as being a great adventure for me will be a test of stamina, but also of the steady good health that I'm so grateful to have enjoyed recently. I'm hoping to raise more money than blisters, so you'll have to dig deep... Thank you, amici! X Kate
