Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page, we've decided to take part in the Moonlight Walk for St Leonard's Hospice in memory of our fabulous friend who sadly lost her brave battle with Breast Cancer in March of this year. Claire was a vibrant, amazing lady who shone in the lives of everyone who was lucky enough to call her a friend. St Leonard's was there to help her family and friends and so we wanted to honour her and her family by supporting this event to help raise money for the hospice.
On a personal note, the date of the walk would have been my beautiful mum's birthday. It's over 4 years since mum (Liz) was sadly taken from us, after a relatively short but painful battle with cancer. St Leonard's was there before, during and after the worst time in our families lives, made exceptionally difficult due to the pandemic.
We know there are constant financial pressures and requests for donations so please only give what you can. St Leonard's truly is a gem that needs to be here to support families through their darkest moments. Thank you to everyone at the hospice ❤️
St Leonard’s Hospice provides care and support for people with life limiting illnesses and their families when they need it most, and we’ve been doing it for 40 years. Our patients’ needs are our priority, and our care is designed to make the best of their lives. We provide care at our Hospice, in patients’ homes, and in our community.
We provide care for free, but it’s not free to provide. It costs £7.9 million a year, and just a quarter of that comes from the government. We rely on the generosity of our community for the rest. Your donation means we can be here to help more people in York and surrounding areas when they need us most.
