Story
Hi all! I am Katerina, a PhD candidate in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, where my research focuses on understanding brain circuit dysfunction in schizophrenia. When I’m not in the lab, you will most likely find me (solo) travelling around the world, erging, or reading books in coffee shops (not necessarily in that order).
In summer 2026 I will be embarking on my biggest adventure yet! I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the Seven Summits and Africa’s highest mountain, to raise £2980 for Amnesty International UK. Every single cent you donate will go directly to Amnesty, an organisation that works on a wide range of issues including women's rights, refugee rights, and in support of individuals whose rights have been violated. Your donations will help Amnesty expose human rights abuses in the UK and all over the world and to campaign for freedom and justice.
Summiting Kilimanjaro will be an extreme mental and physical challenge that will definitely push me far beyond my comfort zone but supporting Amnesty International UK is worth every step. I am of the belief that putting yourself through (unnecessary) challenges makes the actual difficult times of life a bit easier to deal with.
If you are able to support me, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to me and to those whose rights Amnesty International UK works every day to defend.
Lots of love,
K
