I have had great success with utilizing the paxman cold capping system during treatment. It has allowed me keep my hair and given me the ability to look like myself even if I’m not always feeling like myself. As someone who had lost their hair during my first go around with chemo I cannot explain how comforting this has been. Many times insurances do not cover this for patients stating not effective or has no health benefits. Well let me tell you I am a testament to it not only being effective but does have mental health benefits. I’ve partnered with the Pluta Foundation to try and raise money in support of patients utilizing this system. If patients choose to use the scalp cooling system they deserve the opportunity to try to maintain their hair without the stress of having to worry about cost. We go through enough as cancer patients and should be given the opportunity to try something that allows us to feel “normal.”
