Kate Afsar is raising money for Leiomyosarcoma Research UK

Afsar Family Fundraising

Leiomyosarcoma Research UK (LMSR UK) is a new charity focused on advancing research into leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer affecting smooth muscles. Our mission is to support research, provide education, and foster a strong community for LMS patients and their families across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Kate is being treated for metastatic uterine Leiomyosarcoma (uLMS), which has spread to the liver and lungs. LMS is a rare and aggressive cancer that can affect the soft tissues anywhere in the body. Unfortunately, it spreads easily and is extremely difficult to treat.

Whilst Kate is currently stable under second line treatment, at some point this will fail. Compared to more common cancers there are very limited lines of treatments - and no reliable ways to predict which ones are likely to work for individual leiomyosarcoma patients.

Leiomyosarcoma Research UK is a new charity, set up by patients and loved ones, which aims to change the outcomes for LMS patients through research and education. You can read more about the charity through the website: LMSRUK.org

It is a family goal to raise an ambitious £5000 for this important cause. Please help us achieve this by donating today. Donations large and small are very welcome. Thank you for supporting us.
