Ruth was a wonderful friend, colleague and manager. We worked together for over 30 years and she was a true inspiration as a children's speech and language therapist and a manger and many of us were lucky enough to have known her kind and gentle ways, her care, her knowledge, understanding, leadership, clear thinking and guidance.

She faced her cancer with extreme strength, courage and dignity and as ever was always more concerned about looking after and protecting those around her.

Ruth and her family received a lot of support and care from the staff at the Maggie’s Centre at The Royal Marsden so this is my way to thank them for looking after my friend when she most needed it and supporting them to continue their amazing work.

I miss her and think about her every day . Ruth loved the outdoors which is why this challenge felt so right. I know she’ll be with me on the 23 miles.

Also in support of my aunt who is currently receiving support from Maggie’s and my friend’s sister - my friend Carol who is walking with me is the one I have to thank for this 😁.
