Story
I'm raising money for Deafblind UK running the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 19th April 2026! I'd like to thank this worthy cause for such an incredible opportunity. 450,000 live with deafblindness in the UK - including children I've worked with, due to extreme prematurity, congenital illnesses and meningitis. This charity provides vital practical and emotional support free of charge.
Even finishing Couch to 5k in early 2023, the thought of pacing myself to run that distance off a treadmill seemed huge.
Since then, with the incredible support of my lovely inclusive running club (shout-out Strideout Stocksbridge) and starting Park Runs, I have achieved things I genuinely never thought possible (namely running 10km and today about to run my first Half-Marathon race!)
Saying I'm a 'runner' still seems like something to whisper rather than shout - with perceptions of how 'runners' ought to look or how fast you need to be able to run to be considered a 'serious runner', but having signed up for a marathon now, might be something I will have to concede.
Please consider donating if you are able, to support me on my journey, and, more importantly, to support the work Deafblind UK do every day.
