Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 17th of January 2023, our team mate Graham and his wife had a beautiful son Angus. Within 24 hours, he failed his first two newborn hearing tests, and at 4 weeks old they found out he is profoundly deaf.
Feeling lost and not knowing where to turn, they found Lanarkshire Deaf Hub. Attending the family group weekly with Angus provided them with the support and respite from all the medical appointments that they very much needed.
Lanarkshire Deaf Hub is a local charity with over 300 members. They run weekly groups for all ages, and provide support and safe space to socialise.
They also host regular drop in clinics with the local MSP to allow the deaf community to share their opinions.
The family group has allowed Graham and his family to meet other parents who have been, or who are also going through the same journey.
The family group integrates hearing people with the deaf community and allows them to learn and practise using BSL. Graham and his wife have gained so much from this group and made many special friendships.
Most importantly, Angus loves LDH, he enjoys family group and the family fun days where he gets to meet other deaf children and strengthen his deaf identity.
As Angus grows up, he will be able to attend the weekly youth club and continue to receive support and always have somewhere to go into adulthood.
Lanarkshire Deaf Hub are a vital part of the community and open so many doors for the deaf community. They are a charity so every penny counts.
We feel it is time we support this charity and show how much we appreciate everything they do.
Graham and a group of friends have set themselves the challenge of completing the full 15k Tough Mudder course in June 2025. Please show your support by donating to this fantastic charity.
