Kat and Charlottes London Marathon Madness 2025

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Hi!
We’re Charlotte and Kat and we have taken on the hardest challenge of our lives and are going to run the TCS London Marathon 2025!
If you know us, you'll know that right now we are a LONG way from marathon ready - but this is why your support means even more to us! It's going to be so tough just to get to the start line, so knowing that we have your support will keep us putting one foot in front of the other - from now until April 27th 2025!
HOW WE GOT HERE:
We first met in Year 7, and realized that if one of us suggested something - the other was going to sign up too! A real case of 'If your friend jumped off a cliff, would you do it too?!' YES!! We really would! So since then, we have signed up to, and very much 'winged', numerous activities and challenges ranging from the Race for Life 5k, Surf School, and Zumbathon, to the 26 miles Moon Walk across London.
Over the past few years we seemed to have learned our lessons and signed up to fewer challenges that required training! But we've still taken on some pretty epic events, including the Royal Ramble 20 mile walk (Charlotte) and the Ride London 100 mile ride (Kat).
Then, this year, without knowing the other had, we both entered the Ballot for the London Marathon 2025. As soon as we realized what we had done we made a Pact - if EITHER one of us got a ballot spot, the other one would get a charity place!
I'm going to be honest - we both prayed SO hard that we wouldn't be chosen! But Kat got a ballot place, and this meant Charlotte had to choose a charity to run for!
We've chosen to support two hospices - Martlets in Brighton and Strathcarron in Scotland charity as the support they offer for people affected by terminal illness can make such a difference to those individuals and their families.
We’ve raised our target for Martlets and so this page is to fundraise for Strathcarron Hospice.
Unlike national charities, Strathcarron are a relatively small charity who cover the Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth areas and this means that when you support us with ANY donation it will make a MASSIVE impact to the people who come in to contact with the charity!
This hospice is particularly special to Kat, as they supported her stepdad, Tom and her mum, and her younger siblings through the final weeks of Tom’s fight with Pancreatic cancer. The staff, and the work they do made such a difference at what was a difficult and emotional time. They really were expects in dying well, and kept Tom comfortable throughout. I remember when they told him the drinks trolley would be round and he could have as much as he liked! His face lit up! I’m proud to be running for such a great cause, and know that the funds you donate will go a very long way towards helping another family, so Thank you ❤️
We have no delusions that we will be able to ‘wing’ a marathon, and so we’ve been training hard. It’s been tough a bit we’ve cracked 5k, 10k, 10 miles and half marathons! So now it’s just the big 26.2m to go!!
We know that you'll be cheering us on the whole way, and to pay you back for this we're going to share our training journey on Instagram! It'll be hilarious, ridiculous, and probably a little bit embarrassing at times, but it will keep us accountable, and all of the *hopefully* lovely comments will keep us running!
