Story
On Sunday, 1st March Kathleen will be taking on the Olympic Park half marathon run for Aoifes Bubbles Charity.
Aoife's Bubbles was set up in 2019 following the fatal misdiagnosis of Aoife Flanagan. Aoife was taken to the doctors and A&E in excess of 10 times before finally being diagnosed with germ cell cancer on the 2nd July 2019. Heartbreakingly, just five days later, Aoife suffered a fatal cardiac arrest as a direct result of her misdiagnosis. Aoife’s mum set up Aoife’s Bubbles Charity in her honour.
Aoife’s Bubbles is the UK's only registered charity fighting against childhood Germ Cell Cancer so we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for them.
Aoife's Bubbles fundraise in Aoife’s memory to help families just like theirs, to support children with cancer all over the UK and to raise childhood cancer awareness. Heartbreakingly, 80% of children with cancer are stage 4 by the time they reach diagnosis – limiting treatment options meaning children are unnecessarily suffering.
The money raised goes towards supporting families like theirs with mental support, respite breaks, funding of equipment and much more. In addition to this, the charity also funds research with The Institute Of Cancer Research, specifically into childhood cancers.
Thank you so much for all the shares and donations.
Let’s do this!
