Shaving my head for charity · 19 August 2024

Sophie sadly died aged 10 from cancer. A charity (Sophie's Legacy) was created to complete her bucket list. She wanted to make national changes. We support families in hospital by providing food, toiletries etc. We also campaign for changes - read more on www.sophieslegacy.co.uk. Thank you

Story

Hello All,

Firstly, thank you for coming to my just giving page, I appreciate it.

After many cuts, colours, perms and styles I have decided to shave my head for charity.

Infact I'm planning on doing it at my place of work and those who sponsor me can have a chance to cut or shave a part of my head.

My charity of choice;

Sophie's legacy are raising money to help improve food for children and to feed parents while staying with their children, increase funding in childhood cancer research and health professionals to be trained in childhood cancer.

Sophie's legacy also helps with transport costs (fuel vouchers, bus or train passes or taxis)

Clothes when admitted in an emergency with their child

Birthday parties in hospital for children and parents

Emotional support

End of life wishes for children and their families

Vouchers for meals at the hospital restaurant or shops such as M&S

Costa vouchers

Beauty treatments such as nails, haircut or back massage when a parent needs it – this tends to be for the parents in for long stays.

They also provide;

Snack and toiletry box in every parent room / kitchen

Frozen meals from Cook

Pizza every Saturday at Portsmouth, Chichester, Isle of Wight, Poole NICU and Royal Marsden Hospitals and Sunday at Guildford.

Art practitioner at Portsmouth Hospital and in the community for children who spend long periods of time in hospital

Parent packs which contain essential toiletry items, phone chargers, note pad and pen, snack etc.

A trolley of food, drink and toiletries 7 days a week at QA Hospital for parents on CAU and children's wards.

Sophie’s Legacy charity currently provides snack and toiletry boxes to children’s ward and neonatal wards in 10 hospitals across the South of England. This includes hospitals in Southampton, Portsmouth, Sutton, Chichester, Guildford, Basingstoke, Winchester, Salisbury, The Isle of Wight and Dorset.

Please sponsor me. Any donation will help, and be very much appreciated. Although I am only shaving my head, this is nothing that those little humans have to face day to day. Short stay to long stay in hospital is never fun, but with your donation it can help.

Thank you all!!
