Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the Manchester & District Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
In 2008, my husband Denzil was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS). Today he is completely wheelchair-bound with limited movement and speech difficulties — but his spirit hasn’t wavered. His motto says it all: “It’s not what I can’t do, it’s about what I can do.”
That attitude has driven him to stay proactive and give back wherever he can. In 2011, Denzil was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II for decades of service to grassroots football in the North West of England.
To raise funds and awareness for MND, we’re hosting a Charity Car Boot & Fun Day on Sunday 16 August, supported on the day by volunteers from the Manchester and District Branch of the MNDA, at Denzil’s club venue, Redvales Playing Field, Redvales Road, Bury BL9 9PU. Car booters welcome from 9am, with fun day activities from 12 noon including inflatables, an ice cream van, food van, stalls, face painting, spin the wheel, and more.
We’d love to see you there on the day — it takes a lot to pull together! But if you can’t join us in person, please consider donating to this incredibly worthy cause. The MND Association provides invaluable support to everyone living with this disease.
Thank you so much for your support.
