London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·

The PwC Foundation was set up in October 2011 to promote social inclusion and sustainable development in the UK. We support PwC people to raise funds for our national charity partners, and also charities they support personally.

Story

I am raising money for Hospice UK (and now that have met initial £2k target, also for Cancer Research UK shared 50/50% above this) via the PwC Foundation in memory of my Mummy and her brother (Uncle Brian) to mark the 40th and 20th anniversary of their passing from cancer. After raising almost £4k for Kidney Research from my 1st half marathon in 2018 (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kathryn-le-coz) I have now decided to go for the big one – the London Marathon and have thrown a few other races in as well!

So far the plan is:

1. Royal Parks Half on 8th October 2023 – Uncle Brian died on 14th October 2003 after a long fight with a brain tumour. He had a lot of support over that time from St Helena’s hospice in Colchester and also from his wife, Auntie Jean, who sadly passed away this summer so this one (my 5th half) is for both of them! This will be a great kick start to my training and also marks the start of Hospice Care Week, a chance to celebrate hospice care nationwide. DONE

2. Wokingham Half Marathon 25th Feb 2024 training run DONE

3. Kingston Break-FEST run 17th March 2024 St Patrick's Day DONE

4. London Marathon – 21st April 2024 – the big one! DONE

5. Belfast City Marathon team relay – 5th May 2024 – this comes the day after the 40th anniversary of my Mummy passing away from bowel cancer and I will be running this as part of a team relay with some family and school friends (Joyce Agnew, Charlotte Agnew, Christine Johnston, Ray Cameron, Mark McKane, Dorothy Orr, Pauline Livingston and Nat Small) with the route passing by Belfast Hospital where she died. My husband Yann will be running the full marathon with another school friend Adrian Johnston. This also marks the start of Dying Matters Awareness week, to encourage open discussion about death, dying and grief. DONE

6. PwC/Hospice UK OFOD Hyde Park 5k - 17th May 2024

7. Great North Run - 8th September
