MDS UK Patient Support Group is the UK's only charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), a rare blood cancer. We provide information, support and a voice for patients while raising awareness and improving outcomes for patients and families across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Following breast cancer surgery and radiotherapy in 2025/2026, our mum received the devastating news in June 2026 that she had been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare blood cancer that affects the bone marrow's ability to produce healthy blood cells. Since her diagnosis, she has begun treatment and continues to face each day with incredible strength, courage, and determination.

Currently, the only potential cure for MDS is a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, this is not an option available to her through the NHS, making her journey even more challenging. MDS charity’s work makes a real difference to patients and families navigating this life-changing condition.

In recognition of the vital support they provide, we are taking on a series of fundraising challenges to raise money and awareness for MDS. Our goal is to help the charity continue its incredible work in funding research, providing support services, and offering hope to those affected by MDS.

Our first challenge will be the Mighty Stride at this year's Edinburgh Kiltwalk. Every step we take will be for Mum, for everyone living with MDS, and for the charity that works tirelessly to support them. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will help make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.

Thank you for your support, encouragement, and generosity as we take on this journey together. ❤️
