Story
In the UK 1 in 4 women will suffer from domestic abuse at some point in their life.
On April 19th 2026 I will be running the Manchester Marathon in aid of Refuge. Refuge is the largest specialist, gender-based domestic abuse organisation in the UK and supports thousands of victims in various ways.
Being apart of such a statistic is a hard reality to grasp however it is apart of who I am and the life I have lived. I know first hand the helplessness that many people feel or have felt when it comes to these abusive relationships which is why I have chosen this charity. Not only do I want to support the work of this charity but I want to be apart of the solution in removing the stigma around this.
I am running in aid of the charity not only for the futures it can and will benefit but for my younger self, my sisters ,my family and my friends. For the parts of ourselves we lost but the strength we gained instead. To serve as a reminder that we are not alone in our suffering and that something beautiful can come from it. That our past does not define us but our actions do instead. It was never our fault and we never deserved it.
It is because of this I ask that you donate as much or as little as possible, so that together we can make an impact to help support thousands of victims (women and children) to overcome the physical, emotional, financial and logistical impacts of abuse, so they can rebuild their lives free from fear.
