Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and support our fundraising for Marie Curie 💛
Marie Curie is an incredible charity that believes everyone living with a terminal illness deserves the very best care and support in the time they have left. They provide expert nursing care, hospice services, practical guidance and emotional support not only for patients but also for their families and loved ones both during illness and through the grieving process.
This cause is particularly personal to us as during the Covid Pandemic, Katie became a full-time carer for her grandfather, who was living with deteriorating Parkinson’s disease and had recently lost his wife to Covid. Caring for someone you love through a serious illness can be overwhelming and during that time Katie often turned to online resources from charities for guidance and support - including Marie Curie’s advice on caring for someone with a terminal illness and other services they offer. Having access to that kind of information can make an incredibly difficult time just a little more manageable.
To support the work Marie Curie does for families across the UK, we’ve decided to take on a huge challenge together - trekking to the summit of Mount Toubkal in Morocco. Standing at 4,167m, it’s the highest peak in North Africa. The trek will push us both physically and mentally, with long days of hiking, steep climbs and high altitude but it’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by the people Marie Curie supports every day.
Every five minutes, someone in the UK dies without the care and support they need. With your help, we can raise money to ensure more people receive compassionate care at the end of life, and that families are supported through one of the hardest times they will ever face.
Thank you again for visiting our page and for any support you’re able to give. It truly means a lot to us and we’ll keep you updated on our training and fundraising journey along the way!
