Story
We very tragically lost our beloved brother James on 1st August 2024, following a severe sinus infection that spread to his brain. James was just 42 years old.
To mark the first anniversary of his passing, and to honour his memory, Sophie and I will be walking 42-kilometres/ a marathon — one kilometre for every year of his life — on Sunday, 3rd August 2025.
Our route will take us from Reepham to Blickling, and on to the Norfolk coast and beyond. (Final details of the route to follow.)
We are walking not only in remembrance of James, but to raise vital funds for YANA (You Are Not Alone) — a rural mental health charity that is close to our hearts. With James’ deep passion for agriculture, supporting YANA feels like a meaningful way to channel our grief into something positive.
If you are able, please consider donating in James’ name. Your support will help others in rural communities who may be struggling, and ensure they know they are not alone.
If anyone would like to join us for part or all of the walk, we would love to have you there — to reminisce, share memories, and celebrate James’ life together.
YANA provides confidential support. A call to the helpline can result in fast track access to funded counselling with professional counsellors who understand rural life
