Story
Our chosen charity for the year is the incredible BEEP Doctors. Founded in Penrith over 30 years ago, BEEP provides sophisticated pre-hospital emergency care (PHEM) to rural communities across the county, responding at the scene of accidents or emergencies.
BEEP maintains a 14-strong team of highly trained emergency doctors who volunteer their time to provide rural communities with the level of care that Cumbria would otherwise be unable to offer. This means patients can receive more advanced care than a standard paramedic can provide, including lifesaving roadside procedures and stronger pain relief.
BEEP operates entirely on charitable donations, with an average annual running cost of over £150,000. After meeting the chairman, Dr. Theo Weston, at the Penrith Futures Quiz in December 2024, it became clear that BEEP is exactly the team you’d want to see if the worst were to happen.
To support this fantastic organisation, we will be taking part in the Gelt Gladiator challenge in June 2025. Our goal is to raise £1,000, and any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated!
