On 8th August 2019, we sadly lost our beloved Dad, John Drew, aged 74, after a brave three-year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).

Dad spent the final 13 days of his life at Arthur Rank Hospice, having been admitted on 26th July 2019. During that time, the care, compassion and kindness shown to both Dad and our family were simply outstanding. They gave Dad the dignity, comfort and peace he deserved, while supporting us through one of the most difficult times of our lives. We will never be able to thank them enough.

In 2020, my brother, Rob Drew, organised a charity football match in Dad’s memory to raise funds for Arthur Rank Hospice. What began as a one-off event quickly became an annual tradition, bringing together friends, family and the local community for a fantastic cause. Over the past six years, we have proudly raised more than £10,000 for the hospice.

Sadly, in June 2024, our close friend and fellow footballer, Nathan Littlefair, lost his beloved Mum, Elaine Kerry, following her courageous battle with cancer. Elaine spent eight weeks at Arthur Rank Hospice, where she and her family experienced the same incredible care and support that meant so much to us.

From 2024 onwards, we joined forces to make our annual charity football match a celebration of the lives of both John Drew and Elaine Kerry, while continuing to raise vital funds for the hospice that cared so compassionately for both of our families.

This event would not be possible without the amazing support we receive every year. Thank you to all of the players who give up their time, The Plough, Duxford, the Premier League (courtesy of our good friend Jonny Davis), SMT, Elaine’s employer, and everyone who has donated, sponsored or supported us over the years. Your generosity has helped make this event bigger and better every year.

Every penny raised helps Arthur Rank Hospice continue providing exceptional care, comfort and support to local people and their families when they need it most. We never know when we or someone we love may need their help, which is why every donation—no matter how big or small—really does make a difference.
