Story
I am setting myself several challenges this year to raise money for Dove House Hospice in memory of my Dad, Peter Gilman. My Dad was my hero and rock, 6 years ago he was diagnosed with cancer and was always very positive even when he was in pain.
Dove House Hospice were incredible in my Dads final hours, they instantly made my Dad comfortable when we arrived. The staff were wonderfully caring and kind from the Doctors and nurses to the catering staff, nothing was a problem. I will always be a supporter of Dove House and want to challenge myself to help raise as much money as I possibly can for this wonderful hospice.
On Sunday 15th September myself and my friend Elspeth will be taking on the West Highland Way in Scotland, we will be hiking 100 miles over 5 days, Day 1 will start in Milngavie through to Balmaha, Day 2 from Balmaha to Inverarnan, Day 3 Inverarnan to Bridge of Orchy, Day 4 Bridge of Orcchy to Kinlochleven and Day 5 from Kinlochleven finishing at Fort William. Once this is completed we will then take on the National 3 peaks 24 hour challenge the next day.
On the 20th October I will then be taking on the challenge of running 26.2 miles in the Yorkshire Marathon.
Many of you knew my Dad and know how generous and caring he was. I would be so grateful for any donations you are able to make in memory of Peter Gilman which will help a wonderful charity to continue to give the incredible care to those in need of a space to recover and especially those who need a space to take their last moments in a safe and caring environment.
