Reuben’s Retreat was founded in August 2012, just 2 days after Reuben Graham died aged just 23 months old. His Mummy Nicola created the charity to help others who are facing or already dealing with similar heartbreak, walking side-by-side with families offering emotional and practical support for parents and siblings bereaved of a child and for families of life limited or threatened children who face uncertain futures. The work the charity has done over the last 12 years has been remarkable but they now need help to achieve this next milestone… the renovation of another phase of Ruben’s Retreat. They need to raise £1million to provide the families and children with some much needed apartments to allow families to stay over at Rubens Retreat and have a holiday in a safe secure facility to allow them to create special memories. This is a luxury we take for granted with our own children.

Anyone who knows me knows I love being active and outdoors so when Heather asked me to join her in raising money for Ruebens I jumped at the chance! Me being me didn’t actually realise the size of this challenge … but too late I’d said yes … and now here I am getting my steps in at 4.45am some days!

If these families can keep going each day with the unimaginable upset that comes with the loss of child I can put one foot in front of the other and climb that mountain.

Please please donate anything that you can to help me reach my £5k target. I am one of a larger team each hoping to raise £5k each to make a difference to the lives of the families at Rubens Retreat.
