On the 1st July, as part of the Ashby Youth for Christ staff team, Mark & I, Kate (ex- AYFC youth worker) & Matt George and other friends will be travelling 10km on the River Trent in Derbyshire to raise funds for our much needed youth clubs.

This will be a huge challenge for me personally as I am scared of open water, have an irrational fear of Frogs and being eaten by things that live in the water…basically whales…which I know aren’t in the River Trent in my rational brain…but my irrational brain is convinced I am going to be eaten alive.

I am pretty scared, but really determined to do this.

As a youth worker, I get to come alongside vulnerable young people, especially girls, who struggle with their emotions, behaviour and making friends. Many struggle just to get into school and they are so brave, coming in week after week to chat to me.
