Amelia’s fundraiser for Headway - the brain injury association

Katie King is raising money for Headway - the brain injury association

Climbing Snowdon · 29 August 2026

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

It has been a year since our good friend Grant Christie has been in hospital. He has had to have multiple surgeries after tragically sustaining a brain injury, that have sadly meant he hasn’t been able to leave hospital.

We have all been scared, worried and concerned for him, he has had many setbacks, but this man is a true fighter. He has fought his way back to where he is today, where he is trying to recover and learn to do many things we all take for granted.

He is one in a million, and a much loved and adored husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many and we are all trying to stay positive for him, to encourage him to keep fighting and to get better.

Grant is Amelia’s God Father, she is very close to him, she talks continuously about him and wanted to do something for Grant. After some time, she came up with the idea of climbing Snowdon on 29th August, this is some challenge as she is only 10 years old.

We will be climbing it with her and to support her so she can raise money for Headway, a charity that supports people with a brain injury, their families and carers and will be a help to Grant and us in the future.
