Running 10k for the service that helped me find hope after loss
In April 2027, I will be taking on a 10k challenge to raise money for the LPFT Perinatal Trauma and Loss Care (P-TLC) Service — a service that has been a lifeline for me and so many other families experiencing trauma, loss, and anxiety during pregnancy and after birth.
My journey to becoming a mum was not an easy one. Before we welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Lando, in May 2026, we experienced the heartbreak of six pregnancy losses — five miscarriages, including a twin pregnancy, and one ectopic pregnancy.
After so much loss, we were incredibly lucky to have IVF and eventually got to meet our little boy. However, when I became pregnant with Lando, the trauma from everything we had been through did not disappear. Pregnancy, which should have been a joyful time, was filled with fear, anxiety, and the constant worry that we could lose another baby.
I was supported by the amazing midwives at Lincoln County Hospital, including spending four weeks as an inpatient due to severe anxiety during my pregnancy. Their care, compassion, and reassurance helped me through some of the most difficult moments of my life.
However, I also needed specialist support to help me process the trauma of my losses and the fear that came with being pregnant after loss. This is where the LPFT Perinatal Trauma and Loss Care Service became a lifeline.
Their incredible Specialist Midwife, Coralie, and Peer Support Worker, Laura, supported me through the final weeks of my pregnancy when I was terrified of experiencing another loss. They helped me feel understood, listened to, and supported at a time when I felt completely overwhelmed.
Sadly, the impact of everything I had experienced continued after Lando was born, and I have struggled with postpartum anxiety. I have been incredibly fortunate to receive EMDR therapy through the service with the amazing psychotherapist Cheryl, which has helped me begin to process the trauma I have carried for so long.
This service is so much more than appointments and therapy. It is a lifeline for women and families who have experienced pregnancy loss, ectopic pregnancy, IVF journeys, birth trauma, and the overwhelming fear that can come with being pregnant after loss.
I am running this 10k to give something back to the team who supported me through one of the hardest chapters of my life. I want other women and families to have access to the same compassion, understanding, and specialist care that helped me.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support this incredible service and the families who need it.
Thank you for helping me turn my story of loss into a story of hope. ❤️
I’m doing this for every baby who was loved and lost, for every family facing this journey, and for the people who helped me find my way through it. ❤️
