Katie's Relay Channel Swim 2026 for Aspire

Katie Oates is raising money for Aspire

Relay Channel Swim

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've always been a water baby and couldn't imagine not living near the sea. Since I was a teenager, swimming the channel has been a quiet dream of mine and since learning of Aspire's fantastic work, I realised that this is something I can actually do, as a team and for a fantastic cause.

I'll be swimming through jellyfish, past big tankers and in potentially rough conditions but I am so excited and ready for the challenge.

I am lucky to be able to even consider doing this so I'm doing it for all those who can't.

Since losing my dad in late 2025, this swim has given me a focus when I have needed it most and I will be channeling his sense of adventure and love of outdoor swimming as I am completing the challenge. I hope I would be making him proud of me!

Please please support me in this crazy challenge!
