Story
In April 2026, I will be running the Manchester Marathon in memory of my dad, Chris Robey, who we tragically lost to suicide in September 2022.
My dad was thoughtful, kind and full of life. He had a beaming smile and an infectious laugh that could light up any room he walked into. He touched so many people’s lives through his compassion and charisma.
Dad loved running, especially running with others. He set up Caistor Running Club and completed 8+ marathons in his life.
I will be running this marathon in his memory and to raise money for Samaritans.
Many people find it hard to speak openly or ask for help, but talking can be life-saving - whether it’s with a colleague, family member, friend, or a helpline like Samaritans. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans volunteers respond to a call for help. They are available for free, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to listen and support people with whatever they are facing, with no judgement.
It’s only your kind donations and the dedication of 23,000 listening volunteers that Samaritans can always be there for anyone struggling to cope.
Thank you so much for your support.
