Supernova Forth Road Bridge · 2 November 2024 ·

Family members try and do all they can to support someone with an alcohol or drug problem. There are many people in Scotland who are doing this on their own and in silence. Your donations will help us to continue our work supporting families across Scotland.

Story

This November my Mum and I will be running the Supernova 5K over the Forth Road Bridge. A small feat for some, but it isnt so much the distance as for what it symbolises. I am running for Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs. A charity that helps families deal with the everyday struggle that comes with addiction. They do everything they can to reduce stigma for families and offer a safe and encouraging space for people to express their concerns for themselves and their loved ones. After having worked with them for over a year I see the amazing work that they do for families around Scotland.

Today would have been my Dads 66th birthday and next month will be 2 years since he passed. We want to run in his memory. I am thankful that now people can access support, something that has not always been accessible. Everyone deserves support and everyone has a right to feel supported. For families who have felt the struggle of addiction, lost loved ones to addiction and for those who have recovered, we are running for you too 💜
