Nystagmus Network 25 for '25

It’s nearly Nystagmus Awareness Day so I’m always on the look out for ways I can raise awareness about Henry’s visual impairment and I have decided that this year - to mark Nystagmus awareness day, we’re joining in with 25 for 25. Henry and I (mummy) are going to do 25 things that Henry hasn’t done before!
So what’s it all about?
Nystagmus is a form of vision impairment characterised by uncontrollable eye movements.
At least 1 in 1,000 babies are born with nystagmus. Whilst other people develop nystagmus as adults.
Our little Henry is 1 of those 1,000 babies 💙
And until we received Henry’s diagnosis we had never heard of Nystagmus before, it’s been daunting, at times frustrating going through this journey with Henry and we’re still at the start! As parents we haven’t always felt equipped with the knowledge on how to support him the best we can.
Thankfully we have a fantastic Ophthalmologist, QTVI (Qualified Teacher Visual Impairments) & the Nystagmus Network community who are making sure Henry has all the support he needs to weave his way through life. So we’re giving something back to make sure everyone with Nystagmus or supporting a loved one with Nystagmus has everything they need.
