THREE PEAKS REPEAT- The Community Heartbeat Trust

Katie Travas is raising money for The Community Heartbeat Trust
In memory of Brian Powell

Myself and Sheryl are completing the “Three Peaks Repeat” challenge to fund a community defibrillator in memory of our grandad Brian Powell. Community fundraising will also support the total. · 30 May 2026

The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk

Story

To raise funds for the community defibrillator, myself and Sheryl are taking on the “Three Peaks Repeat” challenge — completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks route twice in a row in one day. This involves covering approximately 70 km across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, making it both a physical and mental challenge.

We are fundraising in memory of our grandad, Brian Powell, who sadly passed away from a heart attack at home 10 years ago.

Alongside this event, members of CrossFit Huddersfield and the local community will also be holding additional fundraising activities to help reach the £2,665 needed for the defibrillator package and installation at Spa Fields Industrial Estate in Slaithwaite.

The aim of the fundraiser is to provide a publicly accessible, life-saving defibrillator for the local community.
