I am raising money for the incredible charity The Together Project. They work so hard to boost well-being, reduce loneliness and foster stronger, happier communities through joyful intergenerational experiences. The Together Project designs joy-filled creative activities, each one bringing together at least two different age groups who might not normally come into regular contact, with a focus on fun and friendship.

This charity appealed to me as my company creates educational and developmental crafts for children, with my background as a nursery practitioner helping to hone these skills and knowledge. I have always loved creating and so in my spare time I also illustrate, paint and make.

I picked The Together Project as my chosen charity as I love the ethics of their Crafting Connections Project and the wholesomeness of the Hand in Hand Project which started during the Covid pandemic. They aim to restore the power of human connection by producing pen pal style craft kits to connect the younger and older generations.

A 10-day trek will take me throughout the Sumatran Jungle in Indonesia, through steep climbs and ascents, river crossings and wild camping. It is going to be a tough, challenging and life changing experience for me but I cannot wait to do it knowing it is going towards helping a community aiming to beat loneliness through art and crafts.
