Katie’s 73-Mile Walk for Over Silton Church | Support Her Journey!

Katie Wallace is raising money for St. Mary’s Church Over Silton

Walking the length of Hadrian's Wall

The group was formed to help maintain and preserve St. Mary’s. With a dwindling congregation, the church would have inevitably become redundant, resulting in complete closure. Funds are continually needed to maintain the fabric of the building, and just as previous generations have given generously to preserve St Mary’s it is now our turn to ensure that this piece of history, and our heritage is kept alive though volunteer work and fund raising activities.

Story

Hello!

My name is Katie, and this year I’m taking on a big challenge — I’m walking 73 miles along Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for Over Silton Church.

St Mary’s Church is a beautiful medieval building on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. It stands alone in a quiet field, about half a mile from the village of Over Silton.

What makes it truly special is that it remains unchanged by time — there’s no electricity, and it’s still lit by candlelight during services. It’s like stepping back in history.

I’m raising money to help preserve this unique place for future generations. If you’d like to support me, please visit my JustGiving page. Every donation goes to the Friends of Over Silton Church.

Thank you so much!
