Story

AHHHHHHH! I'm running the London Marathon in April 2025, it will be my first ever marathon, and I haven't done a lot of running in the last 10 years what with having kids and all that. But this is a big one. And an important one. And will be a super emotional one. I am running it in memory of my Mum, Penny, who spent the last 5 weeks of her life at Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading. We were very grateful for their care and support over her last few months and I am honoured to be running all 26.2 miles to raise money for such a good cause.

Mum died in August 2017 but I think of her every day and often remember moments of kindness from the Sue Ryder staff at one of the most difficult times of our lives. Sophia, my eldest daughter, was only 8 months old. Mum didn't get to meet her 4 other grandchildren but for those that knew her I'm sure you'll agree she would have been a wonderful granny, teaching the kids about nature and the environment, supporting your community, and trusting your gut.

I am so grateful for all donations and really appreciate the support - it will make such a difference to me during training and on the day, as well as to the Sue Ryder team and visitors in the future - thank you xx
