Katie & Claire's Kiltwalk fundraiser for Avalon Parental Support and Respite Services

Katie Kettlewell is raising money for Avalon Parental Support and Respite Services

Team: APUC Kilt Walk for Avalon Parental Support and Respite Services

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2025 · 14 September 2025 ·

Avalon was set up following the Autism diagnosis of our daughter Ava in 2015. We provide access to family respite services and access to therapies for children to enable them to reach their potential. Our aim is to help children thrive and to strengthen the familiy unit to keep families together.

Story

Hi!

Myself and Claire, along with other work colleagues, are taking part in a 11.3 mile Kiltwalk from Musselbrugh to Murrayfield in Edinburgh along with some colleagues at my work to fundraise for APUC (Advanced Procurement for Universities & Colleges) chosen charity of the year. This year, we are supporting Avalon, a local charity based in Glasgow who support parents and families of autistic children.

What Avalon do - “We offer practical advice and guidance, wellbeing programmes and family connection days to improve social networks, reduce isolation and increase skills, confidence, overall wellbeing and connection.” – Avalon Charity Website

APUC hope to raise enough funds throughout the year to allow Avalon to host a Christmas party for families which caters to the different needs of the children, and, a peer support group providing practical and tested guidance to parents on specific issues they face.

Any donations are so welcome!

Wish us and our trainers luck! :)

Katie & Claire xx
