Story
Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Next October, 2026, I’m going to be trekking along the Great Wall of China, in memory or my darling husband, Patrick. Sadly, Patrick died this year after contracting cancer. He was only ill for a very short time and the shock of his diagnosis and swift decline was brutal.
The Greenwich & Bexley Communtiy Hospice was a fantastic support to the whole family, a service we’d never imagined we would need. The care and compassion we received was incredible; nothing was too much trouble and they provided everything they could as quickly as possible to keep Patrick as comfortable as possible. Maintaining Patrick’s dignity was a real priority for the nurses who visited every day.
I’ve never done a charity event of this sort and, to be honest, I’m a bit awkward asking for donations. However, this feels like exactly what Patrick would have wanted me to do. Patrick lived in China for two years as a volunteer teacher at a university. He loved rural people and returned a few times both as a volunteer and as a tourist with me and our three children.
The fundraising target for this is ambitious but it is a fantastic cause and I know that every donation will make a real difference to people in their darkest hours.
