Story
We will be taking on the Brighton Half Marathon on 1st March 2026 to raise funds for Martlets Hospice.
This will be a significant challenge for Katy, not only running 13.1 miles, but running it at her maximum pace for that distance while at the same time guiding Keith, who is totally blind. Normally, a guide runner would not be pushing themselves to the limit when guiding, as they need to save energy in order to verbalise directions and, at times, physically guide the blind runner around other runners, obstacles, etc.
Katy is a Home to School Transport Officer for Families, Children and Learning (Education and Skills) at Brighton and Hove City Council. Keith is a Sports and Clinical Massage Therapist and has treated patients and their family carers at Martlets with massage therapy for a number of years.
Martlets Hospice is a wonderful place, full of loving, caring people who feel it is a real privilege to support its patients and their families as much as possible. All care is offered free of charge. We rely on fundraising, shops, volunteers, donations, and support from people like you, so if you can, please make a donation here so that Martlets can continue its vital work.
Thank you so very much.
