In memory of Barry Jones

In memory of Barry Lloyd Jones
NCI is a voluntary organisation keeping watch for people in trouble along the coastline. Our watchkeepers provide the "eyes and ears" along the coast, supporting the Coastguard, RNLI and rescue services. We are totally reliant on donations to continue our contribution to safety along the coast.

Story

In Memory of Dad

Dad was part of Coastwatch, based at NCI Moelfre – Port Lynas. The sea played a big part in his life and he always loved it — even when he didn’t like it. Having spent so long in the Navy and at sea, it was always going to be a lasting relationship.

Dad was an incredibly private man in many ways, but most people knew about his strong affiliation with the sea. He loved being at NCI Moelfre, and it was even the place where he was asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage. He had a wicked sense of humour and a quiet way about him, and the sea suited him — moody at times, powerful, and not always predictable.

Remembering Dad through something so closely connected to his life feels like the right way to honour him.

About National Coastwatch

National Coastwatch looks out for people in difficulty along the coast. Its 2,800 volunteer Watchkeepers maintain a visual, radar, and radio lookout from over 60 stations.

They report to the UK Coastguard and work with other emergency services to help ensure timely and effective rescues for boaters, kayakers, swimmers, fishermen, and hikers.

National Coastwatch is entirely funded by donations. Any amount will be gratefully received and put to good use.
