Story
I’ve run on and off for a number of years, but always very slowly, avoiding hills like the plague and never going further than 10km. When I heard that SPACE were organising a number of fundraising events, I wanted to do something to help.
SPACE in Chester supports over 600 children and young people with additional needs, as well as their families. At the heart of their work is a dedicated, fully accessible centre designed to provide inclusive play sessions, sensory experiences, and a safe, welcoming space for all. SPACE helps to build confidence, reduce isolation, and offer vital support to families who often feel overlooked.
SPACE is a place where every child is celebrated, every need is understood, and every family feels they belong. My own family has accessed SPACE on several occasions, and we have always found their facilities and support to be amazing. Raising a child with additional needs can be incredibly lonely, and accessing support is often frustrating. Sometimes it feels like a fight just to get your child’s basic needs met, which is why SPACE is such an important resource.
Taking on the Chester Triple will be a huge personal challenge for me; that's a 10km in March, half marathon in May and full marathon in October. Knowing I’m doing it to support SPACE will keep me going, especially during the marathon! Any donation, no matter the size, would be hugely appreciated and will help ensure this incredible support continues for the families who need it.
