🚴‍♀️ My Big Battlefield Bike Ride for Help for Heroes

In June 2026, I’ll be joining the Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride as part of the staff crew – cycling alongside incredible veterans, supporters, and colleagues to honour the journeys and sacrifices of those who’ve served.

It’s been 25 years since I last did anything like this – back then, I cycled across Egypt, Israel and Jordan when I was 30. Now at 55, I’m dusting off my bike (and my muscles!) for a whole new adventure. This ride will also mark my first anniversary working for Help for Heroes as the Community Builder for Colchester, so it feels like the perfect way to celebrate – by doing something that truly embodies our mission.

Veterans and their families face some of their toughest battles after service – from painful injuries and mental trauma to isolation and uncertainty. Help for Heroes provides life-changing support: physical and mental health care, welfare and medical assistance, and a community that understands.
