Story
Anyone that was lucky enough to have ever met our Mum would agree that she would light up a room whoever she was with and wherever she was! 'The Shining One', as her sister described her.
Mum was diagnosed with early onset dementia at the age of 53 and as a family it was devastating to see how cruel this disease is. Sadly our lovely Mum passed away in May 2004. To mark the 20th year of her passing we all went out for a delicious afternoon tea. Mum certainly would have approved of all the cream and cakes! However to help raise some money and awareness I have decided to take on my biggest challenge yet - Race to the Stones! I will be taking on this ultra marathon challenge on 13th-14th July running (and walking a little) a total of 100KM over the two days. I'm not quite crazy enough to take it on in one go! I know it will be tough but it will be nothing compared to the pain and confusion that our Mum had to suffer, so I will dig deep and keep going no matter what! Mum was not a fan of running but she would've been there at every stop with home-made cakes to keep me going! Please help support me on this challenge to raise awareness and money to help find a cure for this cruel disease. Helen won't be joining me on this challenge but will be making plenty of cakes to support the fund raising!
Thank you for your support. I better get on with the training!
