Katy's Songbirds Blue Light Walk for Mesothelioma UK
On 26 June 2026, Katy's Songbirds and friends will be taking part in the Meso Blue Light Walk to raise funds for Mesothelioma UK, the national charity supporting everyone affected by mesothelioma.
Mesothelioma is a preventable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. It has touched many lives, including that of our conductor, Katy Lees, who was given just months to live nearly 20 years ago. Her remarkable journey is a testament to resilience, hope, and the power of community.
Katy firmly believes that singing brings people together and helps us find joy and strength even in life's most difficult moments.
To support this wonderful cause, we will be walking from Wimbledon Tennis to The Earl Beatty, with musical stop-offs along the way at The Dog & Fox, The Hand in Hand, and Raynes Park Station. At each stop, we'll be sharing a minute or two of operatic singing, spreading a little music, raising awareness, and hopefully inspiring donations.
Mesothelioma UK is a beacon of hope for patients and their families. The charity funds specialist support, champions access to the best possible care, advocates for patients' rights, and invests in vital research to improve treatment and outcomes. Their work helps people live better and longer with mesothelioma while striving for a future where no one is affected by this devastating disease.
We are aiming to raise £1,000, and every donation, large or small, will make a real difference. By supporting our walk, you'll be helping Mesothelioma UK continue its life-changing work and giving hope to those affected by mesothelioma.
Please donate if you can, cheer us on if you see us, and help us raise awareness of this important cause. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you for your support.
