Story
As most of you know, I don’t run.
I’m taking on this challenge to run 5K everyday in February. For my mum.
this is probably my worst nightmare however my mum faced her worst nightmare, tackled it head on and is now thriving with life.
My mum was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2021. Her life changed within a matter of weeks, she had to learn how to do simple tasks that people like me don’t even need to think about.
Skip to 2026 my mum is working her job, started the gym and somehow manages to keep our crazy family somewhat ‘normal’
My mum is my role model, my inspiration- she has really proved that no matter how physically and mentally exhausting life can be, you can still create a positive life.
mouth cancer is becoming a very aggressive cancer that effects so many people, before my mum was diagnosed I had no idea it was a thing:
The Mouth Cancer Foundation is a charity dedicated to helping and supporting those suffering from or at risk of mouth cancer, throat cancer and other head and neck cancers, as well as providing assistance and information on living with mouth cancer for families, friends and carers.
Help raise awareness by fundraising or join in the charity's annual fundraiser, the Mouth Cancer 10 KM Awareness Walk. You can also support the charity's self examination campaign or order a copy of the Easy to Swallow Cookbook.
