Story

The mission of Nelson’s Journey is to increase the self-esteem, self-belief and wellbeing of bereaved children in Norfolk, by enabling families and wider society to talk openly about death and bereavement, and for children to express and understand emotions.

As most of you will know myself and my 2 girls suffered a devastating loss when my husband Anthony took his life in June, it has been a very traumatic time for us all, and the girls are both dealing with it in different ways and Nelson's journey have been there from the beginning, mainly talking with my sister in the early days when I was unable to deal with anything, they gave her the advice and support around how to help the girls and we are currently waiting for some one to one and group sessions for my eldest which I hope will help her process what has happened and help her be a little more open about how she feels. I also had phone calls for support when I was able to take this on myself.

As well as their early support they also received boxes full of things to help, a cuddly toy, a journal, a bar of chocolate, a stress toy, tissues, colouring in pages. I know all these things are only able to happen because of the support and fundraising for the charity and I want to do my bit to help!

I will be abseiling down the Forum in Norwich on 15th March to help raise the funds needed to support bereaved children.

If you can support my fundraiser for Nelson's Journey I would very much appreciate anything you can give.

Thank you

Kayleigh
