Story
I’m raising money for the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal by taking on a 10,000ft skydive alongside Telford MP Shaun Davies, fellow fundraiser Helen Walker, and my sister, Samantha Hoofe.
The Sunflower Appeal is raising £5 million to create the new Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. As Telford’s first dedicated cancer centre, it will double chemotherapy capacity across the region and help thousands of patients receive treatment closer to home, reducing the need to travel to Shrewsbury during an already challenging time.
For me, this is about more than just raising money. A year ago, I would never have had the confidence to consider a skydive, and physically it wouldn’t have been possible. Taking on this challenge is a reminder of how much can change in a year and proof that sometimes the biggest growth happens when we step outside our comfort zones.
When Shaun put out a call for local people to join him in raising funds for this incredible cause, I knew I wanted to be involved. Having my sister Samantha taking part too makes it even more special. Together, we’re stepping well outside our comfort zones to support a charity that will make a lasting difference to local families.
Even better, every pound donated to the Sunflower Appeal is currently being matched by Telford & Wrekin Council until the £250,000 match-funding pot is reached. That means your donation will have double the impact and help bring this vital facility one step closer.
Thank you for supporting me, and the Sunflower Appeal. Every donation, no matter the size, will help create better cancer care for people across Telford, Shropshire, and the surrounding areas
