Story
Here goes nothing! In April 2026, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a special cause.
As many of you know, my mum suddenly lost her husband, my step-dad last year.
The Widowed And Young (WAY) Charity have been a huge help, offering a peer-to-peer support network for anyone who has lost a partner before their 51st birthday. Founded in 1997 WAY now has more than 4,800 members throughout the UK and offers counselling, legal and financial advise, which members can access at any time. Regular zoom meetings take place no matter what stage you are at with your grief and there are numerous events in various locations throughout the year for members to attend. A core part of WAYs mission is to stand up for the rights of young widowed people across the UK. My mum speaks about how the support from people in similar situations is invaluable. It costs £30pp a year to subscribe, but it costs double that per person so fundraising is a huge part of keeping the charity going.
This run is to show my appreciation for the charity and give back to them with as many donations people can spare, so that WAY can continue to give support to those who need it.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
